Music

Mr. Allwarden

We believe that every students should have the ability to perform, create, and to listen to music with understanding. To achieve that end, every student should have access to a comprehensive, balanced and sequential program of music study in school.

Children should be active participants in the music making process with a goal of musical independence. The mediums through which students participate include:

Music

An understanding of music is gained through the sequenced development of concepts based on the elements of music:

Rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, form, expression, history and style, composition and performance.

All students at Clark/Wilkins are involved in grade wide performances. These performances include singing, playing and dancing and are organized by grade level. Often they are connected thematically with each other, or tied to grade level curriculum. Integration between the art, music, library and computer is also practiced as often as possible.

"Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything"
