Clark-Wilkins Library Program

Online Library Catalog

Our school libraries serve an important role in the Clark-Wilkins educational program. Each student visits the library weekly. This time is used for stories, planned library activities, and book exchange. All books are checked out for one week, but can be renewed. No over due fines are charged, but prompt book return is encouraged. Payment is required for damaged and lost books.

The library/media center has a planned curriculum of study that has specific goals and activities designed for each grade level. A few of the curriculum components include: study of the Randolph Caldecott Award, the John Newbery Award, and the Coretta Scott King Award as well as storytelling of favorite fairy tales, folktales, tall tales, and myths. Students in grades three and four use the Wilkins Library Computer Lab to do research with World Book Online and to search the library online catalog. Most importantly, books and reading are enjoyed as favorite authors and illustrators are highlighted in our studies.

Several special library events in the coming school year will include: the Book Fair in October during parent conferences and again in May during the Writing Festival, the Young Inventors' Program in February, and the Writing Festival in May with a visit from a children's author/illustrator. In the spring, parents and families of all students in grades 1-4 are invited to come to library class and share our library experiences.

Looking Forward to a Great School Year!
